If you actually want to get good, go talk to the captain off rattay at the training grounds during the day and you can learn how to swing a sword and do master parries and chaining (I can't remember his name for the life off me though) On the plus side there is a potion that does heal you to full hp over time, or get the perk that heals you over time.
